The parade, known as “Luminaria”, on the occasion of the celebration of the Patron Saint San Costanzo the day before the festivity (28th January), tends to strengthen the link between the civil and religious society, in accordance with the spirit that saw its beginning more than seven centuries ago, to “safeguard and increase peace and tranquillity of the city”.
This has been the fourth year in a row that the parade, with the Mayor, the archbishop and other high representatives of civil and religious Institutions present, started from the Municipal Hall of Palazzo dei Priori (h. 5:00 pm) to end at the Basilica of San Costanzo.
Also this year many people were there dressed as in the XV century from the five Districts of the Event “Perugia 1416”.
At the end of the “Luminaria”, inside the Basilica of San Costanzo (h. 6:00 pm), the sacred mysteries were celebrated, with the choir of the Municipal Police, and the “votive deposit of the Candle and gifts to the Patron Saint” were given by the Mayor.
