Would you like to relive the historical period between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and enjoy one of the most beautiful historical re-enactment festivals? COME TO PERUGIA from 13th to 15th of June 2025
Perugia1416 awaits you from June 13 to 15 to experience together the historical re-enactment of Braccio Fortebracci entry into his city, reconquered after long exile with the Battle of Sant’Egidio. Acclaimed as the new lord of the city, Braccio did not stop and continued to conquer territories in
the dream of an Italic kingdom, but during his potentate he gave Perugia years of good governance: a history that here symbolises the transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The celebrations are based on what is described in archival documents and culminate with the handing over of the keys of the city and the Grand Historical Parade in his honour with the participation of guest delegations.
In the enthralling atmosphere of a festive medieval city – as, at the time, it was decided by the Priors and Camerlenghi – the five Magnificent Rioni will compete for the Palio in thrilling challenges: Archery, Mossa alla Torre, Corsa del Drappo and the allegories within the Parade.
In addition to the evocative night-time Braccio’s entrance, performances by flag-wavers, street artists, actors, dancers, choirs and musicians, demonstrators of ancient crafts, there will be exhibitions, videomapping, living history, shows, guided tours and taverns with traditional Umbrian dishes and medieval recipes. A programme for children also includes a competition dedicated to them in Tug-of-War.
Grand finale on late Sunday afternoon with the proclamation of the winning Rione of the Palio 2025.
